What is Acne Scar? Who gets Acne Scar?
Acne vulgaris is a very common skin disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, an oil gland connected to hair follicles. Overstimulation of this gland leads to increased production of an oil called sebum. This oil is responsible for the lubrication and waterproofing of the skin and the hair. When the excess sebum production is trapped under the skin and becomes infected by bacteria, it becomes acne. When acne infection is uncontrolled, pressure and enzymatic reaction from bacteria will destroy normal skin tissue leading to scarring.

How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments will depend on the severity of the existing scar, skin condition, expectation, and age of the person. Mild scarring generally 1-3 treatments, moderate 2-4, and severe 3-5 treatments. Most will notice 15-20% improvement with each treatment. Because skin remodeling takes 6 months, you should notice continue skin improvement up to 6 months after the treatment.
