PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and Growth Factor

PRP has been used since 1960 as a method to improve healing in sports medicine. It is done by collecting own blood and process to collect plasma rich in platelets. It is then injected into the tissue to let the body think that one has bled and that injury has occurred. This would cause a natural response for our cells to release peptides called growth factors to stimulate healing.

When administered to our skin, this process will stimulate the natural healing process of creating collagen and elastin that we desire in our skin. It will produce newer skin the is younger-looking, firmer, brighter, and tighter. The advantage of the treatment is that one goes straight into “healing” rather than inducing controlled injury with a laser so the body can go into healing. You are skipping the injury and going straight into the desired healing process. Because PRP induces growth factors, we have found that one can use growth factors for better results that require fewer treatments when compared with PRP.

When PRP is done to the scalp, it improves circulation and helps in supporting the natural hair growth cycle. It has become popular lately as a treatment for hair loss in men and women.

We offer both PRP and peptide growth factor treatments at MD Laser & Cosmetics for skin rejuvenation and hair loss treatment. Call for an appointment to find out if you are a candidate.
